If you’ve been wanting to schedule a photo shoot for you and your love, or for your family, you may be wondering whether a mini session or a full session is the right choice for you. I get asked this question all the time and my answer is—it all depends on what you hope to achieve!
In this post, I’ll break down differences and benefits between the two options, so you can choose the right package for you. Let’s get into it!
What is a Mini Session?
A mini session is just as it sounds—short and sweet! These sessions are quick and easy, usually lasting only 15-30 minutes at a set location. During this time, I will work with my clients to create stunning photographs of their families or engagement. The end result will be 10-20 professionally edited digital images that customers can download from an online gallery within 2 weeks of the mini session date.
Benefits of a Mini Session:
1. Saves you time
Mini sessions are a quick and efficient way to capture high-quality photos without taking up too much of your time. Since there’s no pre-meeting or major communication ahead of time, it’s perfect for those who have a busy schedule or can’t commit to a longer session.
2. No planning required
Since mini sessions are at a specific time and a set location, there is little to no planning on your part—aside from getting ready and showing up! Starting on this year forward, I hold a once a year luxury mini session in Spring or Summer time. A couple creatives and I are going to organize and plan on this editorial photography, and I provide sophisticated dresses for you to choose from and wear for your session!
3. Receive high-quality photos
Just because a mini session is a quick experience doesn’t mean you’ll sacrifice quality when it comes to your photos! My goal is to choose and deliver a few high-quality photos that are both visually stunning and meaningful to you. My mantra is always quality over quantity!
What Is A Full Session?
A full session is ideal if you want more than just photographs—you want the whole experience! We will spend 1-2 hours together capturing all kinds of gorgeous images of your family or engagement shoot. My goal is to provide my clients with photos that showcase their personalities, while having the time to get to know you a little better! After the shoot, I will send 30-50 fully edited digital images within 2-3 weeks of our session.
Benefits of a Full Session:
1. Comprehensive coverage
A full portrait session allows for more time, which means we’re able to capture a wider variety of images during our time together. This is especially important for events like engagements or anniversaries where you’ll want to have a bigger selection of photos to choose from.
2. Personalized experience
A full session allows me to get to know you so I can personalize the experience for you and your loved ones. When you book a full session, I’m happy to meet with you over Zoom to discuss the vision you have for your photo shoot. From there, I love to provide my clients with recommendations—location, outfits, props, you name it!
3. Creative freedom
Full sessions allow a photographer to experiment with different poses, lighting, and settings—simply because we have more time to play around! This can result in more creative and unique photos.
No matter which package you decide on—luxury mini session or full session—you can rest assured knowing that I will do everything I can to make sure your photos turn out beautifully! Taking pictures should be fun and stress free so I strive for every one of my clients to have an enjoyable experience during our time together, no matter which type of photo shoot they choose.
